– Mount the grinding accessory and clamping flange 10 and

tighten clamping nut 9 with open-end spanner 20 (size

24 mm). Pay attention that the grinding accessory can ro-

tate freely in protection guard 11.

f

Use straight grinding accessories only in conjunction

with the enclosed protection guard 11 and the match-

ing clamping system (clamping nut 9, clamping flange

10 and mounting flange 12).

Changing the Mounting Flange (see figure D)

Quick-clamping Nut

(GGS 6 S)

(see figure C)

For convenient changing of grinding tools without the use of

additional tools, you can use the quick-clamping nut 8 instead

of the clamping nut 1.
f

Quick-clamping nut 8 may not be used for brushing.

Use only a flawless, undamaged quick-clamping nut 8.
When screwing on, pay attention that the side of the

quick-clamping nut 8 with printing does not face the

grinding disc; the arrow must point to the index mark 17.
A properly attached, undamaged quick-clamping nut can be

loosened by hand when turning the knurled ring in anticlock-

wise direction. Never loosen a tight quick-clamping nut

with pliers. Always use the two-pin spanner 16.

Dust/Chip Extraction

f

Dusts from materials such as lead-containing coatings,

some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to

one’s health. Touching or breathing-in the dusts can cause

allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of

the user or bystanders.

Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are considered

as carcinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treat-

ment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials

containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists.

– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.

– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.

Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the

materials to be worked.

f

Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace. Dusts can

easily ignite.

Operation

Starting Operation

f

Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage of the pow-

er source must agree with the voltage specified on the

nameplate of the machine. Power tools marked with

230 V can also be operated with 220 V.

Switching On and Off
To start the power tool, firstly push the safety switch against

starting 7 toward the front and afterwards press and hold the

On/Off switch 6.
To lock the pressed On/Off switch 6, push the lock-on button

7 further toward the front.
To switch off the power tool, release the On/Off switch 6, or

when it is locked, briefly press the On/Off switch 6 and then

release it.
f

Check grinding tools before using. The grinding tool

must be mounted properly and be able to move freely.

Carry out a test run for at least one minute with no load.

Do not use damaged, out-of-centre or vibrating grind-

ing tools. Damaged grinding tools can burst and cause in-

juries.

When not using the power tool, switch it off in order to save

energy.

Working Advice

Optimum grinding results are achieved when the grinding tool

is moved uniformly back and forth with light pressure. Pres-

sure that is too strong reduces the performance capability of

the machine and causes the grinding tool to wear more quick-

ly.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

f

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains

plug.

f

For safe and proper working, always keep the machine

and ventilation slots clean.

f

In extreme conditions, always use dust extraction as

far as possible. Blow out ventilation slots frequently

and install a residual current device (RCD). When work-

ing metals, conductive dust can settle in the interior of the

power tool. The total insulation of the power tool can be im-

paired.

Please store and handle the accessory(-ies) carefully.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to

be done by Bosch or an authorized Bosch service agent in or-

der to avoid a safety hazard.
If the machine should fail despite the care taken in manufac-

turing and testing procedures, repair should be carried out by

an after-sales service centre for Bosch power tools.
In all correspondence and spare parts order, please always in-

clude the 10-digit article number given on the type plate of

the machine.
