Chapter 3. Changing Various Settings

Changing the Damper

Pedal’s Resonance

On an acoustic piano, depressing the damper pedal makes
the notes you play resonate with other strings, adding rich
reverberations and fatness to the sound. The damper pedal
on the HP101 recreates this resonance (damper resonance)
when depressed.
You can select from eight levels of depth for the resonant
sound (resonance level).
This is set to “5” when the instrument is turned on.

* This setting is enabled only with the piano tones. You cannot

set this for other tones.

1.

While holding down the [Metronome] and [Reverb/

Key Touch] buttons, press the appropriate key (C2–G2)

on the keyboard.

Larger values will produce a deeper effect.

Setting the Tuning Curve

(Stretch Tuning)

A piano is generally tuned to a pitch with a lower bass range
and a higher treble range than equal temperament. This
special tuning method for pianos is called “Stretch Tuning.”

This effect works only with the piano tones.

Stretch Tuning is set to ON when the instrument is turned
on.

1.

While holding down the [Metronome] and [Reverb/

Key Touch] buttons, the “B 7” note to turn the setting

On, or press the “A7” note to turn the setting Off.

This is the right choice when using
Dual play (p. 16), or when playing in
ensemble with other instruments.

This tuning curve expands the bass
and treble ends somewhat. It is suit-
able for performances such as piano
solos. This setting is in effect when
you turn on the power.
