10.3 How to Verify Firmware Version

You can verify the firmware version by the procedure below. Use one of the following two ways of
verifying.

10.3.1 Checking the Transceiver Operation Panel

1. Press [TNC] on TM-D710A/E or RC-D710 to display “APRSxx”.

(Skip this step for TM-V71A/E)

2. Turn the power OFF.
3. Hold [ ] and [PF1] down and turn the power ON.
4. Verify the following is displayed.

• Number on left side of display: Indicates the firmware version of the transceiver itself.
• Number on right side of display: Indicates the firmware version of the operation panel.
• Number at upper right side of display: Indicates the firmware version of the TNC.

The firmware version number appears on left side of the display for TM-V71A/E.



The firmware version of the operation panel must be 1.12 or later to display the firmware version of the TNC
microprocessor on the operation panel display.

10.3.2 Checking with MCP-2A

1. Press [TNC] on TM-D710A/E or RC-D710 to display “APRSxx”.

(Skip this step for TM-V71A/E)

2. Turn the power OFF. For TM-D710A/E, connect the communication cable to the transceiver

itself.
For RC-D710, connect the communication cable to the front panel.

3. Turn the power of the transceiver or RC-D710 ON.
4. Start MCP-2A and select “Product Information” from the Model pulldown menu.

Note: The firmware version of the operation panel must be 2.00 or later to use MCP-2A to display the firmware version of the

TNC microprocessor.
