Note – Keyboard, mouse and video are optional with an operating system that
supports headless operation.
4. Connect a terminal to the serial port.
Note – The preinstall image is directed by default to the serial port (ttya) and
nothing will show up on the monitor until the installation is completed an the
system is reconfigured to allow video to the video port. See
Section 1.8, “Using Serial
Console Redirection” on page 1-22 for instructions on setting up serial console
redirection and redirecting video back to the onboard video display, if needed.
5. Connect Ethernet cables to the server’s gigabit Ethernet connectors.
See Section 1.5.1, “Interconnecting Servers” on page 1-19 for information on how to
interconnect servers and connect them to a LAN.
6. Connect any additional external devices to the server’s other connectors.
