10. Leave hot tub cover open during this step to allow
excessive chemical vapors to exit hot tub, protecting
pillows and plastic knobs from chemical attack. If hot
tub is indoors, open doors and windows for proper
ventilation. Turn on all hot tub jets pumps for one hour, open all air
controls, turn on the blower, and place all massage selector knob(s)
in their center “combo” position as shown (right).
Note: You will need to press the jets pump button(s) and blower button
every 20 minutes since these functions have an automatic 20 minute
time-out function that turns them off.

To decrease the risk of injury, drowning or entrapment,

never leave your hot tub unattended for any reason
while the cover is open and accessible, especially to
small children and animals!
Precautions should be taken to minimize your exposure

to chemical vapors (that could cause lung, brain, or skin
damage).

11. Turn off power to the hot tub at the circuit breaker, then drain tub as
outlined in Section 14.2 (page 55).
12. Refill hot tub with clean tap water from garden hose until water
covers all jets but does not touch the bottom of the lowest headrest.
(DO NOT OVERFILL!)

Never fill with water from a water softener. If your water is extremely
“hard”, it is preferable to fill half-way with hard water and the rest of the
way with softened water. Water that is too soft can be corrosive to
metal components.
