Tailstock Controls
Foot Brake
AA. Quill Handwheel:
Moves the quill toward or
away from the spindle.
AB. Graduated scale:
Indicates quill movement
in increments of 0.001" or 0.02mm.
AC. Tailstock Lock Lever:
Secures the tailstock in
place along the bedway.
AD. Quill Lock:
Locks the quill in position.
AE. Quill:
Moves toward and away from the
spindle and holds centers and tooling.
AF. Tailstock Offset Screw:
Adjusts and secures
the tailstock offset (1 of 2).
AG. Offset Scale:
Indicates the distance of
tailstock offset from the spindle center line.

This lathe is equipped with a foot brake (Figure
38) to quickly stop the spindle. Pushing the foot
brake while the spindle is ON cuts power to the
motor and stops the spindle. Once stopped, the
spindle lever MUST be returned to the neutral
position before the spindle can be restarted.

Spindle ON/OFF Lever
Using the foot brake to stop the lathe reduces
risk of an entanglement injury from allowing
the lathe to coast to a stop. Use the foot brake
to stop the lathe whenever possible.
