Removing a blade. The blades in the nTier700 are not hot‐swappable or
hot‐pluggable. Contact Spectra Logic Technical Support (see
Contacting Spectra Logic on page 4
) if you need to remove a blade.
Replacing a root expander. The nTier700 root expanders are not
hot‐swappable or hot‐pluggable. If a root expander is removed while
the nTier700 is powered on, the nTier700 status information is no
longer available through the BlueScale web interface and the blade
operator panels.
Note:
Do not remove a root expander unless specifically instructed to
do so by Spectra Logic Technical Support.
Using a PS/2 keyboard. Only USA‐style PS2 keyboards are supported.
If using a non‐USA type keyboard, you will need to find the equivalent
for some characters like the back slash or forward slash.
Moving or shipping the nTier700. Before moving or shipping the
nTier700, remove all of the data drives from the blades and carefully
pack them in their original shipping boxes to prevent damage to the
drives.
Recycling Your nTier700. For information on recycling your nTier700,
check the Spectra Logic website at

The new Spectra Logic Technical Support portal lists the most current
version of the BlueScale firmware for the nTier700 and provides links to
tape drive device drivers, as well as additional service and support tools.
You can also use it to submit a support ticket. You must create a user
account before you can access certain information on the portal or use it to
open a support incident (ticket).

If you have not yet created an account, follow these steps:
a.
Log into the nTier700 BlueScale web interface.
b.
Select About to display the BlueScale version and serial number
information.
Caution
Do not remove a blade unless specifically instructed to do so by Spectra Logic
Technical Support.
Important
The Technical Support portal currently only supports Internet Explorer versions 6.0
and above.
