3 PSI Mode

The CoolSmoke operates exactly the same in the 3 psi mode as it does in the 1 psi mode. The major
difference is that the pressure cut-off switch is less sensitive, and will allow more fl ow before reaching 3
psi.

Occasionally, the Pressure Gauge will indicate a higher pressure than the Mode

Switch allows. This is usually the result of pressure backing up from the fuel tank and system fl exing.
This is not harmful to the system or CoolSmoke and may be ignored.

Regulator Control

The Air Pressure Regulator has a control range from zero psi, up to 15 psi. Turning the Control Knob
counter-clockwise will lower the pressure, and turning it clockwise will raise the pressure. The Control
Knob automatically locks into place. To adjust it, fi rst lift before turning.

When the air pressure setting is adjusted, so is the air-fl ow. The higher the pressure setting, the higher
the air-fl ow will be. This is useful when testing larger areas for leaks. Since air pressure will not build
appreciably until the area begins to fi ll, you may want to raise the air pressure regulator setting

Timer Switch

The timer, situated on the top deck, has a maximum “ON” time of 10 minutes. In most cases, this is
more than enough time to locate any leak. Occasionally, it may be necessary to run CoolSmoke for an
extended period of time. There are no current automotive systems that will require more than 10 minutes
to fi ll and saturate with fog, using the appropriate CoolSmoke settings.

The timer allows the Technician to operate the CoolSmoke hands-free, for as long as necessary.

NOTE: It is not necessary to be precise when setting the timer. Should the timer not be “timed-out” when
the Technician is fi nished testing, simply remove the Ground Clip from the battery. The timer will return
to rest. The timer may also be wound back to zero with no ill effects.

Foot Switch

In some cases, the Technician may need to work with both hands free, and be able to turn CoolSmoke
on and off frequently. CoolSmoke is equipped with a custom foot switch that operates via foot pressure.
It is supplied with 20’ of chemical resistant, heavy-duty tubing that runs between the foot actuator and
the port on the front of your CoolSmoke. The switch may be used as a hand-held pendant switch, or left
on the garage fl oor to be operated by foot pressure.
