Thank you for your purchase of the TASCAM iM2 Stereo Condenser Microphones
for Dock connection.
Before connecting and using the unit, please take time to read this manual
thoroughly to ensure you understand how to properly set up and connect the
unit, as well as the operation of its many useful and convenient functions. After
you have finished reading this manual, please keep it in a safe place for future
reference.

11 Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12 Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table
specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus.
When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/
apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
13 Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when
unused for long periods of time.
14 Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the
apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is
damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the
apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or
has been dropped.
Do not expose this apparatus to drips or splashes. •
Do not place any objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus. •
Do not install this apparatus in a confined space such as a book case or similar •
unit.
The apparatus draws nominal non-operating power from the AC outlet with its

POWER or STANDBY/ON switch not in the ON position.
The apparatus should be located close enough to the AC outlet so that you can

easily grasp the power cord plug at any time.
The mains plug is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall •
remain readily operable.
If the product uses batteries (including a battery pack or installed batteries),
•
they should not be exposed to sunshine, fire or excessive heat.
CAUTION for products that use replaceable lithium batteries: there is danger
•
of explosion if a battery is replaced with an incorrect type of battery. Replace
only with the same or equivalent type.
Other cautions
Do not install in the following types of places. Doing so could cause •
malfunctions.

Avoid installing this unit on top of any heat-generating electrical device such •
as a power amplifier.
Do not let the unit become wet.

If the unit is moved from a cold to a warm place, or used after a sudden •
temperature change, there is a danger of condensation; vapor in the air could
condense on the internal mechanism, making correct operation impossible.
To prevent this, or if this occurs, let the unit sit for one or two hours at the new
room temperature before using.

Overview of features
This stereo mic can be connected to an iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th •
generation) and used to record with applications that support mic input.
Using the angle-adjustable pair of high-sensitivity directional condenser mics,
•
you can record in high-quality 44.1 kHz/16-bit format, which is equivalent to
CD audio, to an iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th generation).
The limiter can prevent distortion when the input level is too loud, and the
•
input level can also be adjusted, enabling optimal recording.
The USB connector allows the connected iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch
•
(4th generation) to be recharged while using this unit to record.

To clean the unit, wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth. Do not wipe with chemical

1 Stereo mic pair (L/R)
The two mics are cardioid electret condenser mics.
The angle of the built-in mic pair can be adjusted.
When viewing the front of the unit, which is the side with the TASCAM logo,
the mic on the left side will record to the left channel, while the mic on the
right side will record to the right channel. The left and right channels never
change regardless of the mic angle or the unit orientation.
2 Power indicator
This lights when the connected device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th
generation)) is providing power.
3 iOS device connector
Use this connector to connect an iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th
generation).
4 USB port for recharging
Use this port to charge the connected device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod
touch (4th generation)).
Data cannot be transmitted through this port.
5 LIMITER ON/OFF switch
The limiter can prevent distortion when the input level is too loud. Shift this
switch toward the mic to turn it ON and away from the mic to turn it OFF.
6 Input level (LEVEL)
Use to adjust the stereo mic input level.
Turn toward the mic to lower the level and away from the mic to raise the level.
Connecting the mic
The power indicator lights when the connected device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or
iPod touch (4th generation)) is providing power. Start the application that you
want to use after this indicator lights.
NOTE
Depending on the application, this unit’s mic input might not be activated if •
you connect the unit after launching an application.
If this unit’s mic input does not become active even when connected to a
•
device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th generation)), try disconnecting
and reconnecting.
If you connect it to a device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th
•
generation)) while headphones are connected, sound might not be output
from the headphones. If this occurs, reconnect the headphones to restore
output from the headphones.
Use headphones that do not have a built-in mic with this unit. If you use
•
headphones that have a built-in mic, that mic will become active and you will
not be able to use this unit’s mic.
Turn the speaker of the connected device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch
•
(4th generation)) OFF. If you connect this unit while its speaker is ON, feedback
might occur.
CAUTION
Only connect the genuine Apple power adapter that came with the connected •
device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th generation)) or one that is
sold by Apple for the device to the USB port on this unit. Use of any other
power adapter could cause malfunction or damage to the equipment. After
connecting with the iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th generation)
connector, connect the cable to the USB recharging port.
If this unit is not inserted properly into the device, it could cause an excessive
•
burden to the unit or the connected device and damage one or both of them.
• Always hold the connected device in place when working with this unit. When
adjusting the input level, moving the limiter switch, connecting the USB cable
or changing the mic orientation, hold the connected device (iPhone 4, iPad 2,
iPad or iPod touch (4th generation)) in place. Excessive force on the connector
could cause the unit and device to become disconnected, or even damage the
connector itself.
Disconnect this unit from the device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th
•
generation)) and store it when not using it regularly. If left connected, a strong
force could cause the unit or the device (iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad or iPod touch (4th
generation)) to be damaged.
Using the mic
Adjusting the built-in mic angle
You can adjust the angle of the built-in mics. Set
the mic angle according to how you have placed
the unit and the sound source position when
recording.
The range of mic angle adjustment is 180º as
shown on the right.
Using the limiter
The limiter can prevent distortion if the input
level suddenly becomes too loud. This is useful for recording live performance and
other situations when extreme volume changes occur.
NOTE
Even when the • LIMITER switch is set to ON, distortion can still occur if the
input volume is too loud. In this case, lower the input level (LEVEL) or move
the unit further from the sound source.
Depending on the application being used, disconnecting or connecting
•
headphones during recording or playback can cause the app to stop or pause.
Be careful about this, particularly when recording.
If the connected device has an “Airplane Mode” setting, set it to “ON”.

Produktmerkmale
Verbinden Sie dieses Stereomikrofon mit einem iPhone 4, iPad, iPad2 oder iPod •
touch (4. Generation), und erstellen Sie Aufnahmen mithilfe von Apps, die ein
Mikrofonsignal aufzeichnen können.
Zwei hochempfindliche, gerichtete und verstellbare Kondensatormikrofon-

kapseln.
Die Mikrofonsignale werden bereits im iM2 in Digitalsignale gewandelt
•
und über den Dockanschluss in das angeschlossene Gerät geleitet. Dies
ermöglichen Ihnen hochwertige Stereoaufnahmen mit einer Abtastrate von
44,1 kHz und einer Auflösung von 16 Bit, also in CD-Qualität, direkt auf Ihrem

1 Stereomikrofonpaar (L/R)
Bei den beiden Mikrofonen handelt es sich um Elektret-Kondensatormikrofone
mit Nierencharakteristik.
Die Mikrofonachse ist schwenkbar, was Ihnen ein Ausrichten des Mikrofonpaars
auf die Schallquelle ermöglicht.
Das von vorn gesehen linke Mikrofon (wenn Sie auf die Seite mit dem Tascam-
Logo blicken) nimmt den linken Kanal auf, das rechte Mikrofon entsprechend
den rechten Kanal. Diese Kanalzuordnung bleibt unabhängig von der
Ausrichtung der Mikrofonachse oder des Geräts immer dieselbe.
2 Betriebsanzeigelämpchen
Leuchtet, wenn das verbundene Gerät das iM2 mit Strom versorgt.
3 iOS-Gerätesteckverbinder
Mithilfe dieses Steckverbinders verbinden Sie das iM2 mit Ihrem iPhone 4, iPad
2, iPad oder iPod touch (4. Generation).
4 USB-Anschluss zum Aufladen
Nutzen Sie diesen Anschluss, um Ihr iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad oder iPod touch (4.
Generation) aufzuladen.
Es ist nicht möglich, Daten über diesen Anschluss zu übertragen.
5 LIMITER ON/OFF-Schalter
Der eingebaute Limiter kann Verzerrungen durch einen zu hohen
Eingangspegel verhindern. Um den Limiter einzuschalten, schieben Sie den
Schalter nach oben in Richtung Mikrofonkapsel. Schieben Sie ihn nach unten,
um den Limiter auszuschalten.
6 Eingangspegelregler (LEVEL)
Mit diesem Drehregler passen Sie den Eingangspegel des Stereomikrofons an.
Um den Eingangspegel abzusenken, drehen Sie den Regler nach oben
in Richtung Mikrofonkapsel. Drehen Sie ihn nach unten, um den Pegel
anzuheben.
Das Mikrofon anschließen
Das Betriebsanzeigelämpchen leuchtet auf, sobald das iM2 durch das verbundene
Gerät mit Strom versorgt wird. Sobald das Lämpchen leuchtet und die
Betriebsbereitschaft anzeigt, können Sie die gewünschte App starten.
Wichtig
Bei manchen Apps wird das Mikrofon möglicherweise nicht aktiviert, wenn Sie •
es erst anschließen, nachdem die Anwendung bereits gestartet wurde.
Sollte das Mikrofon nicht in Betriebsbereitschaft gehen, trennen Sie die
•
Verbindung mit Ihrem Gerät und schließen Sie es anschließend erneut an.
Wenn Sie das Mikrofon mit Ihrem Gerät verbinden, während an diesem ein
•
Kopfhörer angeschlossen ist, wird über den Kopfhörer möglicherweise kein
Ton mehr ausgegeben. Ziehen Sie in einem solchen Fall den Kopfhörerstecker
heraus und verbinden Sie ihn erneut mit dem Gerät, um die Tonausgabe
wiederherzustellen.
Verwenden Sie nur einen Kopfhörer ohne eigenes Mikrofon, während Sie
•
das iM2 nutzen. Kopfhörer mit aktiviertem eigenem Mikrofon (Headsets)
verhindern den Zugriff auf das Mikrofon des iM2.
Schließen Sie den Kopfhörer direkt an die Kopfhörerbuchse Ihres iPhone 4,
•
iPad 2, iPad oder iPod touch (4. Generation) an.
VORSICHT
Schalten Sie den Lautsprecher Ihres iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad oder iPod touch • (4.
Generation) aus. Wenn Sie das Mikrofon bei eingeschaltetem Lautsprecher
verwenden, kann es zu akustischen Rückkopplungen kommen.
Verwenden Sie am USB-Anschluss des iM2 nur den zu Ihrem Gerät
•
gehörenden Originaladapter von Apple oder einen Adapter, der von Apple
für das Gerät autorisiert wurde. Die Verwendung eines anderen Adapters
kann zu Fehlfunktionen oder einer Beschädigung der Geräte führen. Für die
Verbindung zwischen dem Apple-Adapter und dem USB-Anschluss des iM2

und Ihrem Gerät. Bei einer unzureichenden Verbindung treten Hebelkräfte auf,
die zu einer Beschädigung beider Geräte führen können.
Achten Sie stets darauf, bei der Handhabung des Mikrofons auch das Gerät

festzuhalten. Um eine übermäßige Belastung der Steckverbindung zu
verhindern, halten Sie Ihr iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad oder iPod touch (4. Generation)
und das Mikrofon fest, wenn Sie den Eingangspegel ändern, den Limiter-
Schalter betätigen, das USB-Kabel anschließen oder die Mikrofone ausrichten.
Andernfalls kann sich die Steckverbindung lösen oder schlimmstenfalls
beschädigt werden.
Wenn Sie das Mikrofon nicht verwenden, trennen Sie es von Ihrem Gerät, um

es getrennt aufzubewahren. Solange das Mikrofon mit Ihrem Gerät (iPhone
4, iPad 2, iPad oder iPod touch (4. Generation)) verbunden ist, besteht die

Sie können die Achse des Stereomikrofons
auf die Schallquelle ausrichten. Wählen Sie je
nach Ausrichtung des Geräts und Richtung der
Schallquelle den geeigneten Winkel.
Die Mikrofonachse ist um 180° schwenkbar.
Richten Sie die Markierung auf die Schallquelle
aus (siehe Abbildung).
Den Limiter nutzen
Der eingebaute Limiter ist hilfreich, um Verzerrungen durch einen plötzlichen
Anstieg des Eingangspegels zu vermeiden. Vor allem bei der Aufnahme von
Livemusik oder in ähnlichen Situationen, in denen starke Pegelschwankungen
auftreten, erweist sich diese Funktion als nützlich. Um ihn zu nutzen, stellen Sie
den LIMITER-Schalter in die Stellung ON.
Wichtig
Auch bei eingeschaltetem Limiter sind immer noch Übersteuerungen durch •
einen zu hohen Eingangspegel möglich. Senken Sie in einem solchen Fall
den Eingangspegel mithilfe des LEVEL-Reglers ab oder vergrößern Sie den
Abstand zur Schallquelle.
Bei manchen Apps kann es sein, dass die Aufnahme oder Wiedergabe stoppt
•
oder auf Pause geschaltet wird, sobald Sie einen Kopfhörer anschließen oder
die Verbindung trennen. Bedenken Sie dies vor allem in Aufnahmesituationen.
Wenn das angeschlossene Gerät über einen Flugmodus verfügt, aktivieren Sie

diesen.

エレクトレットコンデンサータイプの単一指向性ステレオマイクです。
内蔵マイクの角度を変えることができます。
フロント側（TASCAMロゴが見える側）から見て左側がLチャンネル、右側が
Rチャンネルとして録音されます。マイクの向きや本機の向きでLチャンネル/
Rチャンネルが変わる事はありません。
2 パワーインジケーター
接続機器から電源供給されると点灯します。
3 接続コネクター
iPhone 4 ／ iPad 2 ／ iPad ／ iPod touch（第4世代） に接続するためのコ
ネクターです。
4 充電専用USBコネクター
接続機器の充電用コネクターです。
データ通信は行えません。
5 リミッター機能オン／オフ切り換えスイッチ（LIMITER ON ／ OFF）
入力音が歪まない様に過大入力を抑制する機能のオン／オフ切り換えを行います。
マイク側にするとオン、反対側がオフになります。
6 入力レベル（LEVEL）
1ステレオマイクからの入力レベルを調節します。
マイク側に回すとレベルが低くなり、反対側に回すと大きくなります。
接続方法
接続機器から本機に電源が供給されると、本機のパワーインジケーターが点灯し
ます。その後にアプリケーションを起動してください。
注 意
i 本機を接続機器に接続しているにもかかわらず本機のマイク入力に切り換わらな
い場合は、一度本機を接続機器から取り外し、再度接続し直してください。アプ
リケーションにより、アプリケーションの起動後に本機を接続したときに、本機
のマイク入力に切り換わらない場合があります。
i 接続機器にヘッドホンを挿した状態で本機を接続する場合、ヘッドホンから出力
されないことがあります。その場合は、ヘッドホンプラグを一度抜き差しするこ
とで出力します。
i 本機に使用するヘッドホンはマイク付き（4極プラグ）のものを使わないでく
ださい。ヘッドホン側のマイクに切り換わってしまうため、本機のマイクを使
用することができません。
i 接続機器のスピーカーをオフにしてご使用ください。オンの状態のまま本機を
接続すると、ハウリングを起こす場合があります。
i 本機のUSBコネクターに接続するUSB充電器は接続機器毎の製品に付属され
たアップル純正専用充電器をお使いください。それ以外のものをお使いの場合、
正しく動作しなかったり、機器を破損するおそれがあります。接続コネクターを
接続後に、充電専用USBにケーブルを接続してください。
i 本機が正常に挿入されてない場合、本機および接続する機器に負荷がかかり、
本機および接続機器を破損するおそれがあります。
i 入力レベルやリミッター機能オン／オフ切り換えスイッチの操作時およびマイ
クの向きを変える際、接続機器を押さえながら行ってください。コネクター部に
強い力が加わり、抜ける可能性があります。また、抜けない場合でも、コネクタ
ー部分を破損するおそれがあります。必ず、接続する機器を押さえながら操作を
行ってください。
i 通常使用時以外は、本機を接続機器から外して保管してください。接続したまま
で無理な負荷がかかった場合、本機または接続機器を破損するおそれがあります。
使用方法
内蔵マイクの角度を調整する
内蔵マイクの角度を変えることができます。録音時の本機の置き方と音源の位置
に応じて、最適な角度を選んでください。
角度調整は、以下のように180度の範囲で変えることができます。

リミッター機能を使う
リミッター機能オン／オフ切り換えスイッチをオンにすると、入力音が歪まない
様に過大入力を抑制します。音量変化が激しいライブ録音などに適しています。
メ モ
入力音が大き過ぎる場合、リミッタースイッチをオンにしても歪んでしまうこ
とがあります。その時は、入力レベルを下げるか、本機を音源から離してくだ
さい。
注 意
i 録音／再生中にヘッドホンの抜き差しを行うと、アプリケーションによっては
動作を停止または一時停止します。特に録音中の抜き差しにはご注意ください。
i 接続機器に「機内モード」の設定がある場合は、オンにしてご使用ください。
