The Overlay sheathing style (Figure 3). allows you to bring ONLY NON-COMBUSTIBLE
MATERIALS all the way down to the top of the fireplace opening. No material of any kind
may extend beyond the top of the fireplace opening.
The Overlay style requires that you install the fireplace such that the face is flush with the
framing. See Appendix A for further drawings and details.
