2.7 Saving Weld Procedures
Once a weld procedure has been designed, tested welded and modified to
exact standards as required by either the Welding Engineer, the Operator
and/or the Customer and his specification, it is generally a good idea to save
the procedure for future use.
2.7.1 Saving to Library
The first step in saving a procedure is to name it. At the MAIN MENU, use
option [6 Save Modified Procedure]. This will highlight the seven character
spaces in which to name the procedure. The procedure name can be one
character or seven characters long.
Both numbers and letters (only upper case) can be used to name the
procedure. DO NOT USE SYMBOLS.
Enter the desired name for the procedure, then press [ENTER]. Once
entered, the procedure name in option [1 Weld with Procedure *TRIAL*]
will change and show the new procedure name in place of the name
“*TRIAL*”.
If the procedure to be saved is given a name of an already existing
procedure, when [ENTER] is pressed the program will notify the
operator. At the bottom of the MAIN MENU screen, the prompt will show
the description of the existing procedure with this statement below:
——— Used -
Replace It?
Answering [YES] will override the existing procedure with the new
procedure.
2.7.2 Saving to Disk
When saving procedures to diskette, save a procedure as described above
then use option [T Copy Procedure To Disk]. This will command the drive to
spin and attempt to save the selected procedure to a diskette. Be certain to
have a formatted diskette in the drive prior to performing this operation.
When saving a procedure to a diskette for the first time, using this option
will command the drive to spin with this prompt below:
Reading disk...
Once this prompt disappears, the procedure has been successfully
saved to a diskette.
If attempting to save a procedure to a diskette under a name that already
exists, the following prompt will appear:
* DISK: ———
OK to Overwrite?
Answering [YES] will override the existing procedure with the new
procedure.
2.8 Erasing Weld Procedures
When a weld procedure is no longer used and necessitates being erased,
use option [7 Erase Saved Procedures]. This option will erase any and all the
procedures currently saved in either the library or on the diskette.
Erasing from Library
When this option is selected, the name of the procedure that is loaded will be
highlighted at the end of this line.
Press [ENTER] to erase this particular procedure. Or, if the name of the
procedure is known, type it in followed by pressing [ENTER]. If the name is
not known, return to the Library thru option [2 Select Saved Procedure], and
select the procedure to be erased.
