INTRODUCTION
The STLITE-PCI-8T is an expansion chassis having eight-slots for expanding the Peripheral Component
Interconnect (PCI) local bus of a PC, MAC, or Sun computer system. If more than eight additional slots are
required, additional chassis can be daisy-chained together. The use of PCI Expansion Chassis is transparent to
the user. The expansion bus is fully compliant with the PCI Local Bus specification.
With standard usage, no special driver or software support is required to install and use PCI boards in the
STLITE-PCI-8T Expansion Chassis.
The expansion chassis provides special features not usually found in expansion chassis. These include:
•
Backplane temperature monitoring
•
Individual card-slot temperature monitoring (STLITE-PCI-8T+ only)
•
Power supply voltage monitoring
•
Fan current monitoring
The expansion chassis consists of a free-standing, table-top aluminum and steel enclosure, a circuit board for
installation in the host computer, and a three-foot shielded ribbon cable to connect the two.
Figure 1-1 shows the functional relationships of the major elements and special features of the unit.
