ItssoundismorepredictablethanFMalone,asthere
isnochanceofthefundamentalofthemodulating
oscillatorsdriftingawaywhenincreasingordecreasing
themodulationindex.Asaresult,theoutputsounds
arelesslikelytobecomeinharmonic.Conversely,the
synchronizationitselfdistortsthewaveformofthe
slaveVCO,thusaddingharmonicstothesound.
TheZ3000offerstraditionalhardsyncalonganew
typeofsynccalledHardSyncModulation(HSM).While
traditionalhardsyncwillonlyworkwithpulseor
sawtoothwaves,withsimilareffect,theHSMaccepts
anywaveform,evencompletesounds,whichwill
modulate,distortandrectifythewaveform.HardSync
Modulationisapowerfulwaveformdistortioneffect
builtintotheZ3000,andcanbeusedinanypatch.
