Itisdifficulttocalculatetheactualspectrumofthe
resultingsoundcreatedbythemodulationindex,but
themoremodulationapplied,themorecomplexthe
soundgets,resultinginnoiseandfrequencydrift.
Forexample,increasingthemodulationindexofasine
wavemodulatinganothersinewave,theresulting
waveformchangesfromasinewaveatmodulation
index0(FMknobtoMIN),throughincreasinglymore
complexwaveforms,endingwithnoiseataveryhigh
modulationindex.Thechangefromsoundtonoise
canbequitesudden,soitshouldbenotedthata
smallamountofmodulationcanprovidemore
