5. Stitching the fastening threads.
For stitching the fastening threads, putt
the zig-zag iever 12a - which is stiil
against the stop tl (Fig. 40) - towards
the front and push it entirely to the
right, passing over the stop I (Pig. 41).
In this position the machine now sews
the straight stitch. When stitching the
fastening threads, it will be well to
hold tile cloth slightly back.

6. Cutting the buttonhole.
Lay the sewn buttonhole on the wood block and cut it through with the button­
hole cutter (Fig.42).
