Lower needle carefully into the mark on the fabric indicating
the start of the buttonhole. Lower presser foot and sew the
bar tack - "4" or "5" stitches.
With the needle out of the pattern selector dial at the B
position and sew the entire length of the left hand side of the
buttonhole—forward stiching.
With the needle out of the cloth set pattern selector dial at the
”C” position and sew the bar tack — 4 or 5 stitches.
With the needle out of the cloth set pattern selector dial at the
"D" position and sew the right hand side of the buttonhole.
Reverse stitching.
Return zigzag width control to the 0 position and take 3 or
4 stitches to prevent ravelling.
Cut the buttonhole opening with seam ripper being careful not
to cut the stitching.

Although buttonholes can be made with most any threads
size 50 mercerized are recommended for best results.
If you plan to make buttonholes on sheer or soft material place
tarlaton on paper under fabric which can be tom away after stitching.
You can make buttonholes by sewing the righfhand side (reverse stitching) first if you prefer by just reversing the
procedure noted above.
