Guide specifications
Furnish and install a 2-compressor air-to-air electric
heat pump that includes outdoor coil section and indoor
compressor section. The combined heat pump sections
shall be used in systems with matching indoor fan/coil/
electric heater (40FS/28HQ,VQ/40FQ) assembly.
Compressor shall operate with one or both compressors
in response to indoor heating requirements or with one
compressor for indoor cooling requirements
Sound Rating Number (SRN) of outdoor coil section
shall be______ or less at full capacity Indoor compressor
section shall be acoustically treated to muffle operating
sound. Brass service valves with refrigerant line fittings and
service ports shall be located on exterior of outdoor section
Indoor section shall be equipped with refrigerant line

Outdoor coil section shall be of circular construction.

protected by vinyl coated grille. Factory-installed coil

Outdoor section fan shall be propeller-type, direct-driven,
and arranged for vertical air discharge. Fan motor shall
be factory lubricated, inherently protected and resiliently
mounted.
Indoor compressor section shall include two com­
pressors, top-mounted control box, reversing valve and
suction line accumulator. Electrical and refrigerant connec­
tions shall be on top of unit. Top service panel and side
service wrapper shall provide access to all piping and
components
Compressors shall be of the welded-hermetic type with
internal vibration isolation. Compressor motors shall have a
thermal/current-sensitive overload device and start
capacitor and relay shall be standard Compressors shall
be equipped with crankcase heaters and relay and have
internal high-pressure relief. Total unit power input shall
not exceed_____ kw at specified conditions.
Controls — Factory-wired controls shall be located in the
indoor compressor section control box (defrost thermostat
located in outdoor coil section). Factory-supplied, field-
wired
controls shall include compressor outdoor
thermostat.
Controls and protective devices that units come
equipped with are low-pressure switch, and compressor
malfunction warning device. This device energizes light
on indoor thermostat if safety control shuts compressor(s)
off or if compressor(s) does not operate when required.
An automatic defrost control shall be included to accom­
plish defrosting (only if coil saturated suction temperature
indicates freezing temperatures) every 90 minutes for a
period of not more than 10 minutes. Control wiring terminal
board shall be designed to match indoor unit terminal
board and compression unit terminal board and accessory
thermostat terminals for standardized point-to-point
connection. Indoor fan speed controller shall be included to
increase indoor fan speed during periods in which both
compressors are running.
