9. While on the base circle, verify that the oil band or cutouts on the side of the lifter do not fall
out of the bottom of the lifter bore and are at least 0.050" above the exposure from the bore.

10. Be aware that these lifters will work with any block where the oil galley/feed is in the front,
back, or either side of the lifter bore. Oil will not feed properly with feed holes at 45º in the
bore. If lifter bores are bushed, be sure bushings are installed accordingly.
11. Repeat these clearance checks for the rest of the valves individually, then assemble complete
valve train using pre-lube on the camshaft, lifter body, lifter wheel, pushrod (both ends),
rocker arm and valve tip.
12. Rotate the engine while priming the oil pump to make sure an adequate volume of oil is getting
to the top of the engine.
Pushrod Seat Insert Removal & Installation
1. To remove the pushrod seat insert, using COMP Cams® Elite Race™ Lifter Seat Removal
Tool (Part #5350, insert the tool in one of the oil band slots in the side of the lifter, placing the
ball end of the tool under the pushrod seat insert. Gently press down on the lever of the tool
which rotates the tool and pushes the pushrod seat insert out, while being careful to not damage
the o-ring. (see images on following page)
