Computers in a network can
share information as well as
devices such as printers and
scanners.
Let’s take a brief look at how the Internet is put together. A
network
is the basic building block of the Internet. Two
computers create a small network when they are linked to
each other.
A network can link multiple computers. For example, a large
company could link all of its computers within a single
network.
On a higher level, networks can link to other networks. In
fact, huge numbers of networks are linked worldwide to form
the Internet. Together they provide seemingly endless
amounts of information for topics such as:
•
Entertainment
•
Commerce
•
Research
•
Education
