• It is recammanded that the “1 PAL 60" is selected at the “0
NTSC Disc Output" whsn a PAL TV is connected; hov№ver,
the images shown below will appear on [he TV screen.
Black bars appear at tfie top and bolfam parts of the TV
screen, (The picture may be compressed vertically,)

•When the “2 On" is selected at the "5 StiN Picture Display",

The MPEG 2 etandard adopted for DVD uses tee felFcwIng
3 picture types for the coding ot each picture {frame) on the
TV screen.
I: l-Ptetpre (Intra coded picture)
This Is the staixiard picture type, and each picture is coded
Separately.
P: P-PIcture {Predictive coded ptcture)
This picture type is computed on the baeie of a past l-Picture
or P-Picture.
B: B-P№ture (Bldlrectionally-predlctlve coded picture)
This picture type is ccmputad by comparing tee previous and
subsequent l-PIclure or P-Prcture. It has the lowest volume of
informaton.

called a field, Wllh conventional TV system«, a signal frame
(a single screen) consists of two fields,

IndKiduaJ images in a video or on the TV are called frames.

The two tields are displayed, alternately, on the TV screen,

than field images.
