Installing the Cable-Management Arm
To install the cable-management arm on the back of the system, perform the following
steps:

Facing the back of the rack cabinet, locate the vacant threaded hole(s) on the right
side vertical rail where you installed the slide assembly.

If you are installing the RapidRails kit, install the cable-management arm with the
thumbscrew at the top of the bracket (see Figure 1-9).
If you are installing the VersaRails kit, install the cable-management arm with the
thumbscrew in the middle of the bracket (see Figure 1-9).

Using the thumbscrew on the bracket, secure the bracket to the back surface of the
right vertical rail at the place where the slide assembly is attached.
The thumbscrew will install in holes not used when you installed the slide assemblies.

Align the free end of the cable-management arm (the end with the pin and captive
thumbscrew) to the back of the right-side inner rail (as viewed from the back of the
system).

Secure the cable-management arm to the inner rail with the captive thumbscrew (see

Attach the input/output (I/O) cables to their respective connectors on the system’s
back panel.

Connect the remaining cables to the system.

Secure the cables to the cable-management arm:
a
After connecting the cables to the system, unscrew the thumbscrews that secure
the front of the system to the front vertical rail.

Slide the system out to the fully extended position.

Route the cables along the cable-management arm, allowing some additional
cable slack at the hinge positions, and secure the cables to the cable-management
arm with the Velcro straps attached to the cable-management arm.

Slide the system in and out of the rack to verify that the cables are routed correctly and
do not bind, stretch, or pinch with the movement of the cable-management arm.
