About This Manual
This manual provides information needed to install and use the Rice Lake
Weighing Systems
Modbus TCP Interface . See the indicator installation manual
for additional installation information and detailed descriptions of indicator
functions.
The Modbus TCP Interface is installed inside the indicator enclosure.
Installation in NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosures permits use in washdown
environments.
Some procedures described in this manual require work inside the
indicator enclosure. These procedures are to be performed by
qualified service personnel only.

1.0 Introduction
The Modbus TCP Interface can be used to read and write data to the 880 using a
PLC or some other master controller.
The master controller communicates by sending commands through the
Modbus TCP Interface . The 880 will respond to the master controller with data
and status depending on the command sent. These actions are referred to as
polled response.
