• Do not attempt to disassemble or ser vice the pump or motor. No
ser vicea ble par ts are inside. Contact your La-Z-Boy ® dealer for ser vice
infor mation.
Troubleshooting for Luxur y-Lift ® Power Recliners
The lift chair s are equipped with built-in amperage over load protection. This
feature prevents damage to the motors and electronics if there is an overload,
by stopping the operation of the motor s .
If the amperage overload protector trips and shuts down the motors:
1. Release the UP or DOWN toggle switch. The system should reset automatically.
If the amperage overload protector trips repeatedly, check the following:
1. Make sure the ca ble tie, used to secure the lift base dur ing shipping, has
been removed.
2. Make sure the operating ca pacity of 500 pounds has not been exceeded
and there is only one occupant in the chair.
3. Make sure there is nothing interfer ing with the movement of the chair.
If the lift recliner does not work, check the following:
1. Make sure the Power Transfor mer is plugged into an electr ical outlet.
2. Make sure the electr ical outlet is wor king. For example, make sure there
are no blown fuses or tr ipped circuit breaker s .
3. Make sure all the connectors are secure; refer to the Assembly Instructions.
4. Make sure the electr ical cords are not cr imped or pinched. Make sure
the electr ic cord or plug is not damaged.
5. Make sure the operating ca pacity of 500 pounds has not been exceeded
and there is only one occupant in the chair.
If the amperage over load protection continues to tr ip, or if the lift recliner still
does not operate proper ly, contact your dealer for instr uctions on retur ning
the chair for examination and repair. Except for replacement of the Power
Transfor mer, never attempt to make any repair s or adjustments your self.
Power Transformer Replacement
If the Power Transfor mer must be replaced:
1. Unplug the Power Transfor mer from the electr ical outlet.
2. Locate the Power Transformer connection; refer to the Assembly Instructions.
Gently pull the connector s a par t to disengage.
3. Push the replacement Power Transformer connector and the mating connector
tightly together; refer to the Assembly Instructions.
