In the event of a power failure the batter y backup provided may not

lift the user to a fully raised position.

•

In the event of a power failure, if you require a lift to the fully raised

position or multiple lifts and recline, a batter y backup system may be

purchased separately. Contact your La-Z-Boy

dealer for more information.

•

Replace the Power Transfor mer batter ies ever y six months and after

each power failure use.

Batter y Backup Assembly Instructions
In the event of a power failure the batter y backup should retur n the user to

the seated position from a fully raised position or a full recline position, one time.

The Batter y Backup is located in the Power Transfor mer and uses two 9-volt

alkaline batter ies (not included).

1. Unplug the Power Transfor mer from the electr ical outlet and disconnect the

Power Transfor mer connection at the base of the chair.

2. Remove the two Phillips head screws from the batter y cover on top of the

Power Transfor mer.

3. Place the connection ca ps over the batter y ter minals on each batter y.

4. Place the batter y cover over the batter ies and secure with the two Phillips

head screws removed in Step 2 (F

5. Proceed to the Operating Instructions.

Do not let children play on or near the chair w hen in use. Ser ious injur y

or death could occur if head or body par ts are under the chair ar ms

w hen the chair is moved from the full lift to the seated position.

•

Plug directly into a wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or adapter.

– To reduce the risk of serious injury:

•

The lift chair is intended for a single occupant, not exceeding 500

pounds . Do not operate the chair with more than one occupant in or

on any par t of the chair.

•

Sit down in the unit slowly. To avoid tip over, do not throw your weight

against the back of the unit. Move the unit into or out of the reclining

position slowly, making sure that no children or pets are in close proximity.

NOTICE:

To prevent product damage operate this chair only

when it is upright, setting on its base.

The automatic homing feature retur ns the lift chair to the seated position after

the power is restored following a power interr uption. This feature may cause

the lift chair to move slightly w hen plugged in. Connect the Power Transfor mer

connector to the connector at the base of the lift chair. Plug the Power

Transfor mer into a wall outlet.

Remove the hand wand from the outside ar m pocket.

•

To use the power assistance feature to sit in the chair, stand beside the

chair and press the toggle lever toward the

UP position on the hand

wand. Release the toggle lever w hen the chair reaches a comfor ta ble

height to sit against, depending on your per sonal needs and preference.

Step back into the chair and sit in the center of the seat w hile keeping

your feet fir mly on the floor. Press the toggle lever toward the

DOWN

position on the hand wand to lower the chair. Release the toggle lever

w hen you reach the seated position.

•

The legrest extension is separate from the back recline, allowing you to

raise the legrest without reclining the back. To extend the legrest, press

the toggle lever toward the

DOWN position on the hand wand. Release

the toggle lever w hen the legrest reaches a comfor ta ble height.

•

To recline the back, press the toggle lever toward the

DOWN position on

the hand wand. Release the toggle lever w hen you reach the desired

recline position.

•

To retur n the back to the upr ight position from the recline position, press

the toggle lever toward the

UP position on the hand wand. Release the

toggle lever w hen the back is upr ight.

•

To lower the legrest, press the toggle lever toward the

UP position on the

hand wand. Release the toggle lever when you reach the seated position.

•

To use the power assistance feature to exit the chair, fir mly position your

feet to maintain balance and prevent sliding or falling. Press the toggle

lever toward the

UP position to raise the chair, to stop movement of the

chair release the toggle lever. When the chair reaches a height that

ena bles you to comfor ta bly stand release the toggle lever and carefully

exit the chair.
