Overview
This is an electronic ignition tachometer with the additional function of an adjustable warning
lamp (Shiftlite). The purpose of this warning lamp is to show proper shift points for maximum
torque, fuel economy, or to indicate over-revving the engine. An adjustable stationary pointer is
provided to show the Shiftlite trip point or any warning RPM point.
General Information
Operating Voltage
11-30VDC (12V or 24V system configurable): NOTE-Instrument comes equipped with
12 volt lamps. Replace lamps with ones of proper voltage when installing instrument
into 24V system (two 24V bulbs are supplied loose in the kit).
Input Signal
Ignitions using distributor and ignition coil. This unit will not work with individual
ignition coil per cylinder systems.
Programming Range
4, 6 or 8 cylinder supported.
Transient Protection
Conforms to SAE J1113 specifications for steady state and electrical transient testing.
Reverse Polarity Protected
WARNING: Gauge is set for 12V application only
Installation
Make all connections to the tachometer before applying power.
Connect the tachometer wiring as follows:
Red wire: Ignition voltage (Only has power when Ignition switch is ON).
Connect directly to this wire for 12-volt systems.
For 24-volt systems, connect ignition wire from tach to the bracket of
resistor as shown then connect positive supply wire to the stud on resistor.
Black wire: Ground wire.
Blue wire: Ignition input. Connect to the negative ignition coil terminal or the “tach”
output terminal on the ignition coil (if applicable).
White wire: Dashboard illumination.
