Operation
WARNING: Always ensure that there are no foreign objects in the raclette levels or fondue pot,
the grill plates are inserted properly and both heating control dials are in the OFF position (turn
to “–” position to the stop), before connecting the appliance to the power supply.
Risk of Burns! The raclette will become very hot during operation, even at the
exterior. During operation only touch the appliance by the operating elements or handles.
Always switch OFF and unplug the appliance and allow cooling down, before
removing meat juices and fat from the grill plates. Ensure that all persons present,
including yourself, maintain a sufficient distance to the appliance to avoid injuries by hot sur-
faces and splashes. This holds especially for inserting or removing the fondue pot or removing
any food from the fondue pot; in particular, when foods are cooked on the grill plates simulta-
neously. Always protect your hands, arms, and valuable clothes by using oven gloves from heat
and splashes. Do not hold your face over the appliance!
Do not use any hard or sharp objects with the appliance (e.g. metal cooking utensils, fondue
forks), to avoid damage to the surfaces. Do not use violence!
Your new Design Raclette-Fondue-Set provides three functions in only one unit, and it is possible
to use all the three functions at the same time.
Two Separately Controlled Heating Elements
Your raclette comes with two individually controlled heating elements to serve for a broad vari-
ety of different foods. The best suited settings for your dishes depend on the type of ingredients
and the desired consistency.
Select a low temperature to defrost and re-heat food. Use medium temperature settings to cook
seafood and scallops. Use high temperature settings (maximum position “+”) for meat and
poultry.
Adjust the grilling temperature with the RACLETTE heating control dial. (See: “Some General
Tips“) Adjust the fondue temperature with the FONDUE heating control dial.
• Maximum setting: for bringing water or bouillon to the boil, or heating oil.
Note: To speed-up heating in the fondue pot, turn both heating control dials to maximum “+”
position. As soon as the content of the fondue pot is boiling, turn the RACLETTE heating control
dial to the desired grilling temperature, or turn off this dial (“–” position to the stop), if you do
not wish to use the grill plates.
• Medium settings: to keep the contents hot and/or boiling.
• Low settings: for tender sauces and dips (e.g. cheese sauce and chocolate dip)
WARNING: Risk of Burns! During operation only touch the appliance and its accessories (e.g.
raclette dishes) at its handles. Even the lid and exterior of the appliance/fondue pot will get hot
during operation!
Some heavy sauces splash when hot (e.g. tomato sauces, sauce Hollandaise). Thus, you should
keep the lid of the fondue pot closed whenever possible.
Note: To save energy and time, it is the best to keep the lid closed during operation.
