Loading and Unloading Film
Loading Film
When a roll of film is loaded, the camera first winds the whole roll onto the
camera’s spool. Then each time a picture is taken and the frame
advances, one frame of film is rewound back into the film cartridge.
With
DX-coded
film,
the
camera
automatically
sets
the
film’s
ISO
speed.
• If the film is not DX-coded, set the ISO speed
manually. See “Setting the ISO Speed” on
page 49.

Unlock the Command Dial.
Slide down the camera back lock-
release lever to open the camera
back.
^ Insert the film cartridge at an angle
^ as shown in the figure.
Infrared film cannot be used with this camera.
The shutter curtain is manufactured with very
high precision. To prevent damage, never
touch the shutter curtain. When loading or
unloading film, be careful not to touch the
shutter curtain with your fingers or the film.
