Changing a Partly-used Cartridge

Since Super 8 film comes in a cartridge, you can

change to different types of film before one
cartridge is totally finished. Footage wasted by
changing cartridges is only about 6 frames (silent

cartridge) or 30 frames (sound cartridge) which

includes that part exposed to the light and a few

frames before and after.

Since, upon reloading the partly-used cartridge to
finish it up the footage counter automatically

returns to "S", the best way to tell the film has

ended is by looking at the film transport indicator.
