Before You Begin
The procedures in this document require that you remove the cover and work inside the system. While working inside the system, do not attempt to service
the system except as explained in this document and in the Installation and Troubleshooting Guide and the User's Guide available on support.dell.com. Always
follow the instructions closely, and ensure that you review all safety precautions in the Product Information Guide.
The Installation and Troubleshooting Guide contains information on system indicators, messages, and codes; system diagnostics; troubleshooting; parts removal
and replacement procedures; and jumpers, switches, and connectors.
The User's Guide contains information on the System Setup program.
Recommended Tools
You may need the following items to perform the procedures in this section:

Key to the bezel
l
#2 Phillips screwdriver
l
Wrist grounding strap
Control Panel Assembly
Removing the Control Panel
1.
If applicable, remove the bezel:
a.
Use the system key to unlock the bezel.
b.
Press the tab at the left end of the bezel.
c.
Rotate the left end of the bezel away from the system to release the right end of the bezel.
d.
Pull the bezel away from the system.
2.
Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
3.
Open the system:
a.
Loosen the two thumbscrews that secure the cover to the chassis.
b.
Slide the top cover backward and grasp the cover at both sides.
c.
Carefully lift the cover away from the system.
4.
If applicable, remove the SCSI backplane daughter card.

NOTE:
The control panel assembly consists of two separate modules—the control panel and the USB/video-connectors. Use the following instructions to
remove and install either module.
