Introduction: Dell™ PowerVault™ 122T LTO
-2 Autoloader User's Guide
Overview
The PowerVault 122T LTO-2 autoloader is a fully automated, rack mountable, 2U (3.34" height, 16.5" width), enterprise class LTO tape storage system
designed to provide unattended, near-line and off-line data storage. This high throughput, high capacity, storage device is optimized for applications that
provide archiving, hierarchical storage management, backup and retrieval functionality for low to mid-range servers and networks.
The autoloader is a SCSI-2 low-voltage Differential (LVD) data storage device that incorporates an IBM LTO Ultrium 2 drive and contains up to eight LTO-2
cartridges. The autoloader occupies two SCSI target addresses, one for the tape drive and the other for the autoloader robotics. The autoloader uses up to
eight LTO-2 Ultrium cartridges, providing a compressed capacity of 3.2 Terabytes and a sustained data transfer rate as high as 70 MB per second. The LTO
Ultrium 2 will support reading and writing in the earlier generation LTO-1 format with throughput consistent with the LTO-1 specification.
The autoloader is compatible with the most popular operating systems and environments supporting the SCSI interface, but it requires either direct support
from the operating system or a compatible backup application to take full advantage of its many features.
