Prepare the Drill
1.
Move the drill to a spacious location with adequate
lighting, and a clear surface beneath for recovery of
any falling parts.
Choose an area suitable for full marker arm
extension and fold. This requires at least
32 feet (10 m) clearance on either side, and at least
18 feet (5.5 m) vertically.
2.
Unfold the drill. Set the fold circuit to Float to relieve
pressure in the hoses.
3.
Lower the drill, or raise it and install locks and stands
to prevent lowering.
4.
Shut off the tractor. Remove the key.
General Installation Notes
LH First
Part numbers are often unique to left hand (LH) or right
hand (RH) markers. Instructions start with the LH wing,
but call out both LH and RH part numbers. Part
descriptions include LH or RH identifying text.
Skipable Steps
Skip any steps where the components arrive
pre-assembled. Due to evolving manufacturing and
shipping procedures, marker components may be more
extensively pre-assembled than is assumed by these
instructions.
Installing Other Features
If other options or accessories are also to be installed on
the same drill, the following sequencing may make the
work more convenient. From first to last:
a.
Point Row
b.
Shaft Monitor
c.
Open Center (see Note at right)
d.
Two Outlet (see Note at right)
e.
Small Seeds
f.
Liquid Fertilizer
g.
Markers
Note: The selector valve included in the Marker kit
mounts on the same tongue plate used by the
valves in the Open Center and Two Outlet kits.
If the drill has either/both of those other kits,
installation will require longer,
separately-provisioned, zz-zz screws than are
included in any of the kits.
See page 21 for fastener torque values.
See page 22 for hydraulic fitting torque values.
See page 23 for a legend of abbreviations.
High Pressure Fluid Hazard:
Set fold circuit to Float. Do not set circuit to Neutral or
merely disconnect the QDs or just shut down the tractor.
Residual pressure in the lines creates a safety hazard at
step 50 (page 11).
