Sony File Format
When the Setup Menu option File Storage
File Name Format
is set to Sony File Format, the PIX
240i will generate files that follow the same naming convention used by Sony PMWFF5 cameras:
This option only applies to incoming SDI signal when the source is the Sony PMWF55.
The Sony PMWF55 has two options for file naming: the CamID and Reel, which is supported, and Title,
which is not supported.
When the PIX 240i File Name Format is set to Sony File Format, and the F55 camera is set to CamID
and Reel, then the PIX recorder file names will be identical to the F55’s, and they will be placed in a
Reel folder derived from the Sony F55’s CamID and Reel.
Metadata
Several parameters can be set within the Setup Menu File Storage to aid in the organization of files.
This metadata can be used in naming the file which is to be recorded. Folders are created on the 2.5”
drive or CF card based on the Reel number. The Reel number and start timecode value are recorded
within the QuickTime’s metadata fields.
CamID
The CamID field consists of a single alpha character. It is intended to indicate which physical camera
shot the content for the take.
Reel
The reel can be considered a container for all assets generat-
ed during a recording session or day’s work. This field con-
sists of a numeric value between 1 and 999. It is intended to
indicate what reel the recording is part of. The PIX recorder
will create a folder at the root level for each Reel. Recorded
files are placed inside the current Reel folder. A change to
the Reel value will automatically reset the Clip value to 1.
