DESCRIPTION
The
Trusted
TM
TMR
Interface
provides an interface between a
Trusted
TM
Controller and Regent,
Regent+Plus I/O systems. The
module supports the existing Regent
I/O Safetybus™, and the use of all
Regent
and
Regent+Plus
I/O
modules as part of an I/O sub-
system.
The module consists of three identical
processor sub-systems containing a
Bus Interface, an I/O processor with
its associated memory, and a power
supply.
Each processor sub-system has an
interface to the triplicated Inter-
Module Bus (IMB) and I/O Safetybus.
The I/O Processors interface with the
Safetybus, linking the field I/O
modules to the Trusted
TM
TMR
Processor.
The three processor sub-systems
operate in lock-step synchronization,
providing 2-oo-3 hardware voting on
every data exchange between the
Trusted
TM
TMR Processor and the
I/O sub-system. This ensures
uncompromised fault detection and
error-free operation.
The triplicated Power Supply Unit
receives dual redundant +24v dc
supplies
from
the
Trusted
TM
Controller backplane, and converts
the supply to the logic levels required
by the module circuits. The module is
capable of operating with a failure of
either of the redundant power feeds.
The module scans the I/O sub-system
and exchanges data with the
Trusted
TM
TMR Processor. Data
from inputs are read from the I/O
modules in the I/O sub-system.
Outputs are driven by transmitting
data through the I.O Processor to the
I/O module. Output Data from the
Trusted
TM
TMR Processor to the I/O
module is in the required format for
Regent+Plus.
Communications
between
the
Trusted
TM
TMR Processor and the
I/O Processor are maintained through
shared RAM used as a ‘mail box’ for
data transfers between the two.
