SenSaphone Battery Backup
Description & installation
The WEB600 Battery Backup module (FGD-W610-B) provides uninterrupted backup power when main
power fails. The module includes a rechargeable battery and charge control circuitry to keep the bat-
tery fully charged while connected to a powered WEB600. The module can provide up to 2 hours of
backup time in the event of a power failure. The battery module connects to the WEB600 using a short
cable included with the battery module. Simply connect the cable to the Battery Backup connector on the
WEB600. The unit will charge the battery and monitor its charge level. The percent charge can be viewed
on the Summary screen. Note that upon initial connection it may take up to 5 minutes for the WEB600
to discover that a battery has been connected. Once the WEB600 sees the battery it will enable the battery
channel on the Battery programming screen (see Zones menu).
To receive a low battery alarm you must enable Alarm Message Delivery and configure the Alarm Schedule
accordingly. You must also set a Low Alarm Limit – a minimum value of 20% is suggested. Once the bat-
tery reaches 0% the WEB600 will shutdown the system to protect the battery from deep discharge damage.
When main power is restored the Battery Backup module will begin to recharge the battery automatically.
Battery Maintenance
The battery in the FGD-W610-B is a 6V 1.3AH sealed lead-acid (SLA) battery. This battery will keep the
unit operating for approximately 2 hours when fully charged and under normal operating conditions.
Service life
Over time and with periodic use, the battery will begin to lose its capacity, resulting in less overall backup
time. Under normal operating conditions, three or four years of dependable service life can be expected or
between 200 and 1000 charge/discharge cycles, depending on the average depth of discharge. Eventually,
battery replacement will be required to maintain a dependable level of service.
