b. Cut the supplied hose about 2" long and mount
the MAP on the rear manifold. Attach a zip tie,
included in kit, to each end of the MAP hose and
tighten.
See Picture 15.
NOTE: The MAP sensor must be installed on the rear
manifold spigot for proper engine operation.
5. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
The TPS is pre-installed and calibrated at S&S ®
and requires no further attention for installation.
Do not disturb the TPS mounting screws, or the
throttle position screw. See Picture 6.
The TPS and throttle position screw are calibrated by
S&S on a flow bench, and cannot be adjusted in the field.
The Throttle Body Assembly must be returned to S&S for
re-calibration if either the the TPS or throttle position
screw are re-positioned or replaced.
6. Throttle Cable Installation
Throttle grip assembly must work freely to prevent
possible sticking during operation. Throttle must snap
closed when released. Cable routing must be free of
tight bends to minimize friction between cable and
housing.
If throttle does not work freely, it may inadvertently stick
open possibly causing loss of control of motorcycle and
personal injury to operator or others.
a. Loosen cable freeplay adjustment locknuts and
thread adjusting screw so no threads are exposed.
b. Install Throttle (opening side) cable barrel fitting
and throttle cable in throttle spool and middle
cable guide tower. Opening side cable housing is
smaller in diameter than the closing side cable.
c. Install idle (closing side) throttle cable barrel
fitting and throttle cable in throttle spool and top
cable guide fitting. The larger cable guide fitting
on the bottom is for the cruise control cable.
