l. Tighten the two (2) support bracket to head
breathing fitting screws, 17-0346, to 20-22 ft-lbs
(240-264 in-lbs). A special rocker box tool is
shown being used on the front screw.
See Pictures 26 and 27.
m. Tighten the two (2) support bracket to runner
screws to 17-19 ft-lbs (204-228 in-lbs).

n. Attach the two air filters. Push the filters over the
ends of the runners 1

" - 2" and secure with
provided clamps. See Picture 29.
o. Proceed to Section G, Final Install. and Checks.
2. Teardrop Air Cleaner Intake Installation
a. Before installing the Teardrop air cleaner
assembly, final tighten all fasteners on the
loosely installed manifold assembly in the
following order: Starting with the

manifold to head screws, tighten until a
clamping load is just felt, then back off
1 ⁄

turn.
Continue this procedure with the four (4) throttle
body to manifold screws.
b. Using the same sequence as above, tighten
each screw until a clamping load is felt, then
tighten an additional
1 ⁄
8
turn.
c. Tighten the 5 ⁄

"-18 manifold to head screws to 6-
10 ft-lbs (72-120 in-lbs).
d. Tighten the four (4) throttle body to manifold
screws to 6.7-7.5 ft-lbs (80-90 in-lbs).
e. Attach the short spacer to the pointed end of the
Teardrop air cleaner back plate using a
1 ⁄
4
"-20 x .75"
socket head cap screw with pre-applied thread
locker. Spacer attaches to side of back plate with
the radiused inlets. Tighten screw to 16-18 ft-lbs
(192-216 in-lbs.

f. Attach a long spacer to the top right hole of back
plate using a
1 /

"-20 x .75" socket head cap
screw with pre-applied thread locker. Tighten
screw to 16-18 ft-lbs (192-216 in-lbs).

g. Place a throttle body gasket between the back
plate and throttle body and attach the back plate
to the throttle body. Insert
1 /
4
"-20 x .75" socket
head cap screws with pre-applied thread locker
into the top left and top right mounting holes and
thread in a few turns.
h. Coat the long 1 /
4
"-20 x 1.25" socket head cap
screw with Loctite ® 242 or equivalent and insert
from the back side through the bottom right
throttle body mounting hole. Attach a long
spacer to the screw and thread in a few turns.

i. Insert a 1 /
4
"-20 x .75" screw with pre-applied
thread locker from the backside through the
bottom left throttle body mounting hole and
thread in a few turns into the back plate.

j. Tighten the four screws which hold the back
plate to the throttle body to 60-70 in-lbs.
k Attach the back plate bracket to the head
breathing fitting, using shims to allow bracket to
contact the back plate. Install screw 17-0346
into the head breathing fitting.
