7. Disengage the Gearbox
Warning! Never pullout the guncart with the gearbox engaged. This will severely dam-
age the gearbox.
8. Pull the sprinkler cart out the desired distance using your tractor; utilizing the chain, clevis and pin provid-
ed. Use a gear in your tractor that will not exceed 3 MPH at full throttle. Pull the tube out at a steady rate
and do not exceed 3 MPH. Do not start and stop during pull out as this contributes to spool coasting and
may result in loosening of the tube. Slow the tractor to 1 MPH or less for fifty feet prior to stopping. If
this is the first run, pull out the full length of the tube. It is important that the first run be a full length
run so the tube becomes packed tightly on the reel and Timing can be verified. Refer to page 37.
Caution! If the tube is pulled out in an arc, the first 20% of the tube must be
pulled straight away from the machine. Failure to observe this limitation places
excessive side load on the level wind mechanism and may result in equipment
failure or tube damage. See the section titled “Handling The Polyethylene Tube”.
Turbine Drive
Disengage the gearbox by turning the
left gearbox handle 1/8th of a turn
clockwise (as shown below.)
Engine Drive
Disengage the gearbox by pulling the left gearbox han-
dle (as shown below.)
