1.2 Purpose

1.2.1 Penning Gauge PEG100-P

The PEG100-P is equipped with the fieldbus interface
Profibus-DP. Automated process instruments can be lin-
ked easily.

1.2.2 Profibus-DP

The norm EN 50170 decribes the fieldbus system Profi-
bus-DP. Technical and functional features of the Profi-
bus-DP are specified here. The Profibus-DP distinguis-
hes between master and slave instruments. Master
instruments determine the data circulation. They trans-
mit data to their related slaves and request data from
them. It is possible to configure the fieldbus as a mono-
master or multi-master system.

The PEG100-P represents a slave unit which may recei-
ve different messages from the Profibus master and out-
put corresponding replies in response to the informati-
on/commands from the master. In a Profibus system up
to 126 units including the master may be operated. A cor-
responding slave address must be set up for the
PEG100-P.

1.2.3 Profibus-DP Master Configuration

Software

In order to configure the master together with the indivi-
dual slaves software packages are available from the
manufacturers of the master units.
