h: Loosen and remove the strain relief clamp screw on
the termination board and feed the Cat5 cable and
braided shield under the strain relief clamp.
i:
Replace the strain relief clamp screw and tighten.
Step 6:
Terminate DMX/RDM input from the control source
to the termination board. This connection could be
Belden 9729 or Category 5 and it could be made by
termination in a junction box or by a permanent XLR
style connector. Reference
for
information regarding cable specification.
If using Belden 9729 for DMX input:
a: Reference the DMX Cable Preparation for Screw Termination
Setup Guide for instructions to prepare and terminate Belden
9729 for DMX input cable to the screw terminal connector.
b: Install the screw terminal connector with wires terminated to
the DMX Input receptacle on the termination board.
If using Category 5 for DMX input:
a: Reference the Cat5 Cable Preparation for IDC Termination
Setup Guide for instructions to prepare and terminate Category
5 for DMX input cable to the insulation displacement connector.
b: Install the IDC connector with wires terminated to the DMX
Input receptacle on the termination board.
Step 7:
Optionally, terminate DMX/RDM thru to the next device in the DMX data run. Up to 32
DMX/RDM devices can be daisy-chained together per data run. Reference
.
a: Reference the specific termination setup guide for the type of cable used (either Belden 9729
or Category 5) in the installation. Termination kits are ordered separately.
b: Install the connector with wires terminated to the DMX Thru
receptacle on the termination board.
Step 8:
Terminate DMX data signal for the last DMX device in the data
run by setting the termination switch on the termination board
to “On”. All other devices in the data run maintain the factory
default termination switch setting “Off”.
Removing a fixture from the middle of a data run will eliminate DMX/RDM for the
subsequent fixtures. To allow DMX to continue down the fixture line you will need to
replace this fixture with a Pass Thru Plug. To purchase this Pass Thru Plug, contact
an ETC dealer and request part number 7410K4006. For instructions on building your
own Pass Thru Plug, go to
www.etcconnect.com
and search the wiki articles for
“Desire DMX Pass Thru Plug”.
Initial Power Up
When power is first applied, all emitters come on at full. This look will stay active until turned off by an
RDM device or until a preset is programmed. Once a preset is programmed this factory default is no
longer available.
Control and configuration of the Desire XTI can be achieved over a DMX/RDM control network, or
directly from a connected computer running LED Config software. When controlling the Desire XTI
directly from a PC, a Gadget Interface or DMX/RDM gateway is required.
