SECTION 8 - ADDITIONAL CHECKS
8.1 AUTO-FRAME LEVEL SYSTEM (BEFORE S/N 0160038592)
A. Auto-Frame Level Function Check
The auto-frame level function engages when the machine is out of level side to side
by more than 15 degrees, and the boom is level. When this condition exists, the
machine automatically rotates back to 14.7 degrees. To check this feature, perform
the following:
1. Fully retract and level boom, with no load. Do not raise the boom during
this test.
2. Level frame using level in cab.
3. Locate a 12 in (30,5 cm) curb, and drive the machine’s left front and left rear
tires up onto curb. This will set the machine at an 8 degree angle.
4. Rotate machine frame to the right.
5. When the frame is out of level by 15 degrees, the auto-frame level circuit will
energize, and rotate the machine frame in the opposite direction back to 14.7
degrees. This will be your indication that the system is functioning properly. If
you are able to rotate the machine frame fully, the system is not functioning
properly and the machine must be removed from service and repaired before
continued operation.
6. Repeat this procedure for the right side, to check the opposite side sensor.
Note: A sensor on the mast plate will trip when the boom is raised above 7 degrees,
and render the auto-frame level function inoperable.
