Chapter 9. Emergency Operation
If the main hydraulic system fails, the aerial
platform may be lowered and stowed using the
emergency power system. The main boom may be
lowered using the emergency lowering knob. The
machine may be towed if the drive system fails.
Refer to Emergency Power System, Emergency
Lowering, or Towing for the appropriate procedure.
■ Emergency Power System
The emergency power system can be used to
operate the machine from the lower or upper
controls.
The emergency power system is for
emergency lowering and stowing only. The
length of time the pump can be operated
depends on the capacity of the battery. Do
not use this system for normal operation.
Only use the emergency power system if the main
power system fails.

Ground Controls
Use the following procedure to operate the
machine using the emergency power system from
the lower controls.
1. Place the battery disconnect switch in the on
position (refer to Figure 8.1).

2. Place the key in the master switch and turn
the engine on (refer to Figure 8.2).

3. Pull the emergency stop button out.
4. Switch to ground operation.
5. Operate the emergency power switch.
6. Move the desired boom or platform lever.
7. Hold the lever in the appropriate direction .
8. Release the lever to stop movement.

Platform Controls
For the upper controls to be operational:
●
the battery disconnect switch must be in the
on position.
●
the master switch at the lower controls must
be turned on.
Use the following procedure to operate the
machine using the emergency power system from
the upper controls.
1. Pull the emergency stop button out (refer
to Figure 8.3).
