45) Temporarily install rear shocks on factory upper mounts. On some models, the factory upper mounts
may need to be trimmed for shock clearance.

46) Attach weld on shock brackets to lower end of shocks with ½" bolts, spacers (on insides of brackets),
flat washers, and lock nuts. Raise rear axle until full weight of vehicle is on it. Remove jack stands from
frame and place below axle. Lower vehicle onto axle jack stands so full vehicle weight is on the axle (ride
height), position driver side lower end of shock on axle leaving 6" – 7" of exposed rod. Cover shock rod to
protect from weld spatter and tack brackets in place. Repeat on passenger side.

47) Remove shocks and fully weld shock brackets. After welds have cooled, paint axle and install shocks.
Use shoulder washers to compensate for oversize factory hole in upper mounts. (photo 39).

48) Attach reservoirs to shocks with supplied polyurethane mounts and clamps.

49) Install new brake line and tighten fittings.

Part Eight: Transfer Case Removal and Modifications-



50) Remove transfer case drain plug and drain oil.

51) Remove front and rear drive shafts (if installed).

52) Unplug wire harness from transfer case.

53) Support transfer case. Remove attaching nuts and transfer case.

54) Mark location of wires and speed sensors. The sensors will need to re-installed in the original
locations.
