FOR A MORE COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF SUSPENSION COMPONENT REMOVAL, REFER TO A
FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL!
2) Remove all front suspension components including, inner fenders, brake calipers, rubber brake lines,
steering assembly, shocks, front drive shaft, and sway bar (retain sway bar brackets, bolts, and
bushings). Remove steering box. Retain differential actuator with wiring and secure under hood (with the
clamp and hardware supplied in the inner fender hardware package) where it will not interfere with
anything (this is necessary to retain computer functions).
3) Using a die grinder, sawzall, or plasma cutter, cut off the factory lower control arm front mounting
brackets & cross member, rear lower control arm mounts, and shock towers on both sides of the vehicle
(photos 1, 1a, 1b, & 1c). Do not remove the factory upper control arm mounts. *Use extreme caution
during bracket removal. The frame is coated with a material that can catch fire and/or drip onto
exposed skin or surfaces! Grind the frame smooth. Pay special attention to the shock tower bracket. It
needs to be flush with the frame edge and shouldn't have any sharp edges left. This is necessary for
proper bracket fitment and to protect the new brake line which will pass over it. If you wish to completely
clean the frame as shown in the photos, we have found that regular paint thinner works well.
