The Grand Tour
Touch Pad
A pointer control device located in the center of
the palm rest is used to control the on-screen
pointer. Refer to the Using the Touch Pad section
in Chapter 4, Operating Basics.
Touch Pad Control
Buttons
Control buttons below the Touch pad let you
select menu items or manipulate text and
graphics designated by the on-screen pointer.
Power Button
Press the power button to turn the computer's
power on and off. The power button will light
blue when the system is turned on.
Play/Pause
Press this button to begin playing an audio CD, a
DVD movie or digital audio files. This button also
acts as a Pause button. Refer to Chapter 4,
Operating Basics for details.
Stop
Stops playing the CD, DVD or digital audio. Refer
to Chapter 4, Operating Basics, for details.
Next/Fast Forward
Skips forward to the next track. If held down
while a track/chapter is playing, it fast forwards
through it. Refer to Chapter 4, Operating Basics,
for details.
Previous/Rewind
Skips back to the previous track. If held down
while a track/chapter is playing, it fast rewinds
through it. Refer to Chapter 4, Operating Basics,
for details.
If Random or Shuffle is selected in Windows Media Player, selecting Next
or Previous advances to a random selection.
Programmable
Button
When the system is off, pressing this button will
turn on CD Playback mode. Pressing this button
again will turn off CD Playback mode.
When the system is turned on, pressing this
button will launch the program which has been
associated with it through the Programmable
Button utility. (The default setting is Windows
Media Player).
Display Screen
The LCD displays high-contrast text and graphics
at up to 2048x1536 pixel. Refer to Appendix B,
Display Modes. When the computer operates on
the AC adaptor the display screen's image will be
somewhat brighter than when it operates on
battery power. The lower brightness level is
intended to save battery power.
