When the camera is connected to a computer, an error message
appears while data is being transferred to the computer.

The cable is not plugged in correctly.

Connect the cable correctly. (P. 112)

The power is OFF.
[
Open the lens barrier. (P. 31)

The batteries are exhausted.
[
Replace the batteries with new ones (P. 25) or use the optional
AC adapter (P. 27).

The serial port is not selected correctly.
[
Use the operating system software to make sure the serial port is
selected correctly.

There is no available serial port.

Make one available by following the computer’s instructions.
PROBLEMS WITH IMAGES
The picture is out of focus.

The camera moved when the shutter button was pressed.

Hold the camera correctly, and press the shutter button. (P. 35/36)

The viewfinder’s autofocus mark was not positioned on the subject.
[
Position the autofocus frame on the subject, or use the focus lock.

The lens is dirty.
[
Clean the lens with a soft dry cloth.

The mode was not selected correctly.
[
Shoot with the Macro mode when the subject is within the range of
8"~31". For further distances, shoot with the Standard mode. (P. 50/57)

The Shutter release button was pressed while standing right in front
of the camera in the Selftimer mode.
[
Press the Shutter release button while looking into the viewfinder
with the camera aimed at the subject, not while standing in front
of the camera. (P. 59)

The flash mode was set to Red-Eye Reducing flash, Off, Slow
Shutter Synchronization flash or Red-Eye Reducing flash + Slow
Shutter Synchronization flash in a situation where the use of the flash
is necessary.

It takes time before the shutter is released in these flash modes.
Hold the camera securely or use a tripod. (P. 54/55/56)
