OPERATION
Replacement of the roller set
Given that the geometry of the roller set determines
the dimensions of the grooves, specific sets of rollers
are required (see table 1) for knurling in various tubes
from 2 to 12 inches.
Before replacing ensure that the grooving machine is
disconnected and follow the steps below:
Removal of the lathe screw:
Remove the nut.
Remove the lathe screw.
Removal of the upper roller:
Raise the entire slide by opening the cylinder valve
turning anticlockwise.
Loosen the fixing screw and remove the roller shaft and
the upper roller.
Installation of the upper roller:
With the slide fully raised insert the new upper roller
and the entire roller shaft through the bearings and
the upper roller.
Tighten the fixing screw.
Installation of the lathe screw:
Install the new lathe screw in the main shaft aligning
the keyway of the lathe screw with the pin of the main
shaft.
Firmly fix the lathe screw locknut.
Correct positioning between the upper roller and lathe
screw:
Loosen two screws in the slide and turn the adjusting
shaft to move the roller slide forwards / backwards.
Position the roller slide correctly with the lathe screw.
Tighten the two screws on the slide.
The large upper roller couples to the large lathe
screw at a distance of 19mm.
The small lower roller couples to the small lathe
screw at a distance of 15.88mm.
