Changing the Text Input Mode

To enter text when storing a name in your Address Book, creating your personal
greeting or scheduling events on your calendar, you can enter alphanumeric
characters by using your phone keypad in portrait mode or in qwerty mode. Tape
the text entry screen to display the on-screen keypad.

Your phone has the following text input modes:

T9 Abc: allows you to enter words with only one keystroke per letter. The T9 mode

automatically compares the series of keystrokes you make with an internal linguistic
dictionary to determine the most likely word, thus requiring fewer keystrokes than the
traditional Abc mode.

T9 ABC: allows you to enter all capital alpha characters in T9 mode.

T9 abc: allows you to enter lower case alpha characters in T9 mode.

Abc: allows you to enter initial caps alpha characters.

ABC: allows you to enter alpha characters in all caps.

abc: allows you to enter lower case alpha characters.

Numeric: allows you to enter numbers.

Symbols: allows you to enter symbols, such as punctuation marks.

Emoticons: allows you to enter Emoticons.

Note: When characters can be entered in a field, the text input mode indicator displays on the top

right portion of the screen.

Using T9 Mode

T9 is a predictive text input mode that allows you to key in any character using
single keystrokes. This text input mode is based on a built-in dictionary.

To enter a word in T9 mode while in Portrait Mode:

Start entering a word by pressing the 2 through 9 keys. Touch each key only

once for each letter.
