Operating and installation instructions
Pneumatic actuators - FA160-800
8.0 Care and maintenance
Maintenance and maintenance intervals have to be defined by the operator according to
the service conditions.
- For each operating mode, the actuator, if need be, should be freed from exterior dirt.
- The actuator may not be cleaned with high-pressure equipment or with aggressive
cleaning products, that are a health hazard, or with flammable cleaning products or
solvents.
- After cleaning, for example, an inspection should be carried out checking the sealings of
the actuator.
- In order to ensure smooth running, the operation device for the control air should be
furnished with a maintenance unit.
8.1 Replacing the rolling diaphragm
8.1.1 Replacement by operation mode „Spring closes“
- Disassemble the actuator from the FABA-Supra as described in 7.1.
- Loosen the short hexagon bolts (pos. 50.15) first, then the long hexagon bolts (pos.
50.18); the bolts should always be loosened symmetrically.
- Separate the upper diaphragm casing (pos. 50.9) from the lower diaphragm casing
(pos. 50.8). Remove the springs (pos. 50.10) from the body.
- Gradually loosen the collar nut (pos. 50.14) on the stem (pos. 1) while steadying it on the
stem flat with a suitable tool.
- Now also remove the diaphragm plate (pos. 12) and the rolling diaphragm (pos. 50.11)
from the body.
- Fit a new diaphragm and mount the diaphragm plate again. Note that a bolt hole in the
diaphragm and a camber of the diaphragm plate must be aligned with one another.
When inserting the diaphragm into the actuator, please also make sure that a camber is
exactly positioned over the air connection in the lower diaphragm casing.
- Tighten the new collar nut (pos. 50.14) to the specified torque (refer to the table) while
steadying the stem on the flat.
- Fit eight new springs into the diaphragm plate so that they are centred on the plate
cambers.
ATTENTION !
- Due to safety reasons, the system must be driven down prior to disassembly of
the actuator unit (in a pressureless state!).
- The procedure must be followed according to this sequence, or else there
is a risk of INJURY.
- When replacing the rolling diaphragme, the springs must be changed, too.
ATTENTION !
- At the actuators FA160-FA400 are two and at FA800 are four longer screws
(Pos. 50.18) provided. As the last step, the screws have to be loosened equally,
in order to disassemble the initial spring tension.
