Installation of the Flaming River Power Rack and Cradle
1) Center the rack by turning it all the way to the left. Next turn the rack all the way to the right, counting the number of
turns. Then go back half way.
2) Driver’s side: Hold up the rack mounting cradle where the steering gear box was originally and snug the mounting
hardware.
3) Passenger side: Mount the passenger side of the cradle using the original holes from the idler arm and tighten the
four 5/16” mounting bolts.
4)
Using a torque wrench tighten the mounting bolts to 30-40 ft lbs.
5) Install the New Flaming River adjuster sleeves onto the Factory inner tie rod ends, next install the outer tie rod ends into
the adjuster sleeves and adjust tie rods until the original zerk to zerk measurement taken before disassembly is obtained.
Measurement from the index page.
6) To install the inner tie rod ends into the travel bar system and then to install the outer tie rod ends into the spindles you
must load the front suspension. (Securely placing jack stands under the lower control arms and lowering the car onto the
jack stands accomplishes this.) Install the outer tie rod ends into the spindle and tighten the castle nuts to 30-40 ft lbs.
Make sure to install cotter pins into the castle nut and tie rod end and bend the tabs over for security
.
