STEERING BOX CENTERING INSTRUCTIONS – FR1500/FR1500Q STEEL VEGA BOX, FR1500C/FR1500CQ

WARRANTY: ONE (1) YEAR FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR OF PRODUCT DEEMED
DEFECTIVE BY THE FACTORY.
ANY LABOR INCURRED IS SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED.

IMPORTANT!!! It is critical that the steering box be at the center position BEFORE installation. Incorrect
centering will cause loose steering and premature wear. (Refer to picture to align paint dots.)
20:1 RATIO GEAR BOX – FR1500, FR1500C
NOTE:
All boxes are pre-lubricated and pre-adjusted to factory specifications.
DO NOT ADJUST THE STEERING BOX!!!
1) Place the steering box in a bench vise and be certain the box is held securely.
2) Attach a 5/8”-36 u-joint to the pinion input shaft.
3) Turn the shaft to the right (clockwise) all the way to the right lock.
4) Turn the shaft to the left (counterclockwise) all the way to the left lock. (approx. 5 turns)
5) Turn the shaft to the right (clockwise) half the number of turns. (approx. 2-½ turns) You should feel
the box tighten when at the center.
6) The wide spline on the sector shaft will align with the dot dimple above the center of the sector shaft
area of the box casting.
16:1 RATIO GEAR BOX – FR1500Q, FR1500CQ
1) Place the steering box in a bench vise and be certain the box is held securely.

3) Turn the shaft to the right (clockwise) all the way to the right lock.
4) Turn the shaft to the left (counterclockwise) all the way to the left lock (approx. 4 turns)
5) Turn the shaft to the right (clockwise) half the number of turns. (approx 2 turns) You should feel the
box tighten when at the center.
6) The wide spline on the sector shaft will align with the dot dimple above the center of the sector shaft
area of the box casting.
